Homemade Skincare & Natural Remedies

Acne and Scar Remedy

For the face.   This treatment works particularly well on acne, pimples and blackheads.  It also works to fade scarring on the skin.

Lime Rescue

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon glycerine – naturally sourced
  • 1 tablespoon of rose water.

Mix all ingredients together well and store in a glass jar.  Use a cotton pad, dab the affected area.  The solution is best used at night.

Simple Foot Scrub

  • ½ brown sugar – firmly packed
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Mix ingredients together until you form a paste.  Apply to feet, scrubbing well, then soak in warm water for 10mins

Handy Hint: Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to the water for a refreshing effect.

Honey Almond Face Mask

As honey is a natural humectant (a substance providing a natural retention of moisture) it is an incredible moisturiser and leaves tired skin soft, smooth and supple.  Almond oil is very light, nourishing and easily absorbed into the skin, making the two a fabulous combination.

  • 2 tablespoons of honey – preferably Manuka honey
  • 2 tablespoons of almond oil
  • 4 drops rose essential oil
  • 1 drop lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop vitamin E oil.

Mix ingredients and gently massage onto cleansed face.  Leave for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water.

Body Butter Lotion

  • ½ cup cocoa butter
  • 2 ½ tablespoons of beeswax
  • 3 teaspoons of distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil

Place water and wax in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan half filled with water, on a medium heat.  Stir consistently.

Add cocoa butter when wax is almost melted and mix well.  Add remaining ingredients, blend thoroughly and pour into a glass jar.  The mixture will thicken as it cools.

For Men

Gelatine Mask

  • 1 packet unflavoured gelatine
  • 1 tablespoon of fruit juice – grapefruit, orange or lemon

Mix ingredients together in a small bowl and heat in the microwave until lukewarm.  Apply a thin layer to a clean smooth face, avoiding the eye area.  Once the mask is touch dry, simply peel off and rinse with cool water.
